The Wee Safari

 The Wee Safari

Starting from Inchree Forest  this tour is focused on finding some of Scotland’s best-loved species. We’ll start by having a look to see if there are any squirrels at the hide beside the car park. We’ll then cross Corran ferry to Ardgour on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

Otters often hunt amongst the seaweed in the Lochs on the west coast. Best to look around low tide or just after

Our next stop will be to look for the seals which are often hauled out on the rocks on Loch Linnhe as we drive by. Then we take the road less travelled along to Kingairloch where we will be looking for deer on the hills and otters on the seashore, not forgetting the feral goats that feed on the seaweed.

We can expect to see many different species of birds which will vary depending on the time of year but we regularly come across divers, mergansers, eider ducks and occasionally a white-tailed eagles and even golden eagles put in an appearance from time to time. It’s not uncommon to see porpoise along the seafront and occasionally dolphins perform a swim past. And everyone comments on the deafening silence.

The return journey gives us spectacular views of Ben Nevis and another opportunity to look for the seals.
