The Magical island of Mull

The Magical Island of Mull

The island of Mull is renowned for its wildlife, magnificent scenery and historic connections. On this tour, we’ll leave from Fort William, and travel through the Morven Peninsula to reach the ferry crossing at Lochaline.

White tailed eagle on Mull

White tailed eagles are regularly sighted on Mull

On Mull, we will first visit Duart Castle, the ancient seat of the Clan MacLean. We’ll also stop at the Macquarie Mausoleum, commemorating Lachlan Macquarie, governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821 and regarded as the father of Australia.

After this we’ll follow the coast road above Loch Na Keal, stopping to take photos of the stunning coastal views. We’ll also look out for otters and eagles hunting (and perhaps the occasional whale) around the loch before stopping for a picnic lunch at the beautiful Sandy beach at Calgary. We’ll then continue to Tobermory, the main town on Mull, with its colourful waterfront and busy harbour.

From Tobermory, we’ll return to Fishnish to catch the ferry back to the mainland and back to Fort William for tea.
